Taking Time for My Kids

August 25, 2011

I haven't written in awhile.  That is about to change, . . . quite a bit in fact.  We have so much going on at AES (a 1:1 program, iPad pilot, and COETAIL just to name a few), and I need to write about it when I get a chance!  But I didn't write all summer, at least not on my blog.  I played.  I played long and hard.  And the best part is that is was with my kids.  During the school year, I work long days and many, many nights.  I find myself constantly pulled in many directions.  But each summer, my kids help remind me what is important in life.  They bring me back to reality and to the person I most want to be: a really good mom.  Don't get me wrong, I LOVE my career and the I am very happy with the choices I have made in my life.  But in the summertime, I feel so fortunate to be able to donate every moment to my kids.  As international teachers, we are so fortunate to have our summers to re-connect with our family and loved ones back home in the states.  I spent my summer swimming, boating, kayaking, canoeing, eating crabs and reconnecting.  I didn't write.  I didn't work.  I went on moonlight walks looking for fireflies, and sat around many a campfire with friends.  After a summer full of sparklers and marshmallows, I am readyntent-Length: 33ges and new frontiers I plan to explore literally and figuratively.  But for now, I just want to thank my kids for one of the best summers of my life.  Thank you.
