Thoughts about "World Without Walls: Learning Well with Others"

The subtitle "How to teach when learning is everywhere" is the root of why I am taking this class in the first place. As an educator, I feel it is my job to make students want to learn and become passionate about learning, no matter what the subject. How do I do that today? I was better equiped to do this 15 years ago when I walked out of graduate school. The world of education has evolved so much, and I need to change with my students. Critical thinking has become a priority. Teaching students how to analyze and decipher the multitudes of information that is now at their fingertips is no longer the goal for just the high end learners of a classroom; it should be our main goal for all students. Bloom's taxonomy has even more releveance now. The idea of "working with others online for a common purpose" is endless. There are so many ways to utilize this in a classroom. I have obviously been out of the loop and it is time to get back in.

Hopes for the course

I hope to become more comfortable with the IT world that surrounds me.
I hope to learn from the expertise that I have the opportunity to work with on a daily basis.
I hope to utilize more technology in my classroom where it is meaningful to my students.
I hope to combine these 15 credits with the 21 credits I already have from Buffalo State for a second Masters degree.
I hope to stay on the cutting edge of what is happening in education so that I can constantly teach what I want to teach and where I want to teach.
I hope these things come true.
